Anna's Story

My 13 year old daughter Anna Elise Lowe died in an ATV accident on September 30, 2007 in Elk Valley Tennessee.

She spent every Summer there working with local churches and Christian youth camps as a teacher of counselor. She had decided to say with her grandparents and to go to school there until the end of October while I recovered from major back surgery.

She got such a laugh out of going to my old school and having some of my old teachers. One of them used to remark, "She was Beth plus."

Anna was looking forward to coming home to Tampa, but loved it there and kept busy with her Nana in raising money for a local Boys and Girls Club - she saw a great need for the children there.

Anna touched so many lives in the short time she was there. Over 800 people in this rural mountain community (mostly children of all ages) turned out to pay their respects to our beloved Anna.

We are more than ever dedicated to making Anna's dream for the kids there a reality.

With this web site, we have set up a memorial fund to my Anna so people can see the pictures that they drew for Anna and some of their beautiful writings. Few things bring us comfort now as we adjust to life without Anna, but knowing that she was a kind, loving and generous soul. And as Anna's teachers said, "Anna knew no social or economic boundaries - she was kind to everyone." That statement makes us so proud of her.

Maybe if we all strive to be a little more like Anna, we would all live in a better world.

Thank you,

Beth, William, and Katie Lowe
Grandparents Bill and Ann Lowe
